As Black History Month concludes, we thought a great way to celebrate would be to highlight some of our favorite Black-owned businesses where we live. Our team compiled this collection to be a beloved and tested resource for our communities. To us, celebrating and supporting Black-owned businesses is not confined to just 28 days. We hope you’ll discover somewhere new to shop, eat, or drink (all our favorite things) and support these incredible businesses all year round! Do you have a favorite Black-owned business we should add? Let us know!

Atlanta, GA

Bomb Biscuit Co.

Why we love: “Owned by Erika Council, who was recently named one of Food & Wine’s 2024 Best New Chefs, this spot truly serves the BEST biscuits + breakfast sandwiches in Atlanta.”

Three Parks Wine Shop

Why we love: “They stock interesting wines you don’t see in every bottle shop and offer an incredible deal with their combo packs: you can choose 6 bottles from a rotating selection of red, white, and rosé for $60.”

Sweet Auburn Bread Company

Why we love: “I found Sweet Auburn Bread Company when I first moved to Atlanta at my local farmer’s market, and it’s been a required stop ever since. They have the best blueberry muffins!”

Just Add Honey

Why we love: “Their loose-leaf tea is truly THE BEST I’ve ever tried, and I’ve tried a plethora of teas. The owner is also the sweetest and she also offers afternoon tea services for bookings right off of the BeltLine.”

Charleston, SC

Graft Wine Shop

Why we love: “I love Graft Wine Shop & Wine Bar because they sell delicious wines and it’s the perfect place to hang with friends. They do Good Neighbor Sunday events that brings together the whole CHS community!”

Rodney Scott BBQ

Why we love: “When my husband and I first moved to Charleston, we made the pilgrimage to tiny Hemingway, SC to visit Scott’s Bar-B-Que and experience its legendary whole hog BBQ, literally mopped with tangy sauce and served with spongy slices of white bread. Rodney has come a long way since then, and I’m thankful to have his restaurant in downtown Charleston as an option for easy, kid-approved meals!”

Dave’s Carryout

Why we love: “My go-to spot for the best-fried seafood in downtown Charleston! It is a staple in the Radcliffeborough neighborhood.”

The Black Door Café

Why we love: “On my very first trip to Charleston I stopped at The Black Door Café for an afternoon treat, and the service was so great – it really showed the meaning of “Southern Hospitality” to someone who had never been! Plus my latte was delicious.”

The Tiny Tassel

Why we love: “I love how bright and cheery the store is. They always have the cutest gifts and beautiful window displays!”

The Dance Space

Why we love: “The Dance Space offers a variety of dance classes for all ages. As an adult who spent most of her childhood dancing, this has been a safe space to reconnect with that passion with other adults of all walks of life who share a love of dance.”

BR Design

Why we love: “This sister duo makes clay jewelry that their mother first introduced them to. Everything they make is unique, playful, and so fun.”

Nivori

Why we love: “Firstly, the scents and candles are unlike anything I’ve ever smelled before and they’re always featuring new and seasonal items – you can tell they take pride in their craft. But mostly, I love their warmth and kindness that I can look forward to every time I visit their stand at my local farmers market on Sunday mornings. I’ll stop by to say “hello” even if I’m not in need of a candle, but just to chat with the owners for a couple of minutes and smell their new creations. It always makes my day a little brighter (pun intended).”

Nashville, TN

All People Coffee

Why we love: “As a coffee shop, I love their overall mission. They are two brothers that wanted to show that coffee is for everybody, not one group, community, or type of person. Everyone is welcome”

HiFi Cookies

Why we love: “The team at HiFi Cookies serves some of my favorite cookies in Nashville. As a fun bonus, the Black Sesame and Miso Caramel Brookies at Noko, a Sprouthouse client, are made by HiFi, and they are fabulous!”

Golden Pony

Why we love: “One of my favorite places to spend a Saturday with friends! Golden Pony is known for their refreshing cocktails, cozy yet lively atmosphere, and 10/10 hospitality.”

Slim + Husky’s

Why we love: They have an amazing team and some of the best ‘za in Nashville! I especially love their specialty pies, like the House Party!

Louisville, KY

North of Bourbon

Why we love: “North of Bourbon is a staple in the Louisville restaurant scene. Chef / Partner Lawrence Weeks brings an incredible culinary point of view with dishes like Pork Boudin Balls and Crab Rice Dressing. Whether you go for a snack and a drink or a celebratory feast, it’s a must visit in Derby City!”

Louisville Ice Cream

Why we love: “This Louisville ice cream company is the best! The NuLu scoop shop is a perfect treat and you can find their pints in many local grocers. Don’t miss the Coffee with Bourbon Cream or the Salted Caramel!”

New York City, NY

Queen of Sheba

Why we love: “As an Ethiopian food lover I couldn’t be more lucky to live just two blocks away from Manhattan’s most well-respected (and delicious!) Ethiopian restaurant, Queen of Sheba. Every menu item is a 10; you cannot go wrong!”

Richmond, VA

Penny’s Wine Shop

Why we love: In a city full of wine bars, Penny’s stands out as one of the best— everything is a hit, from the incredible rotating menu, to the unique selection of natural wines. Owner Lance Lemon is all about education, in a way that feels genuine and approachable for a wine newbie.

Prism Saunas & Sound

Why we love: Prism is one of the most relaxing spaces in the city; I absolutely love their infrared sauna services as a way to wind down, and owner Cherice makes you feel right at home.
